DESCRIPTION OF EVENT
iEMPOWER’s Youth Leadership Conference was held July 8-12th from 8:30am - 4:30pm at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. We provided this conference to over sixty-five Young Leaders, grades 5-10, at no cost to the youth and their families. iEMPOWER provided Leaders with opportunities to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences. These experiences served as a way to encourage their desire to pursue a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others. iEMPOWER seeks to develop confident leaders equipped to make a positive impact on our ever-changing world.
For this event, the organizational leadership coordinated the participation of community leaders, sponsors, and volunteers to provide hands on activities, lectures, materials, and food for our Young Leaders.
gOALS
1. Impact future leaders and their families by helping youth uncover their individual potential for success through leadership development and interest exploration.
2. Expose Leaders to various career choices/opportunities and leaders/public figures from the past who have influenced today’s society and culture in positive and innovative ways.
3. Develop partnerships with local school districts, community leaders, juvenile court system, universities/colleges, and businesses within the Albemarle community to advance the mission of empowering youth.
